CrossFit Level 2 Certified. Being active has always been a way of life for me. In my twenties, I enjoyed competing in half-marathons, duathlons, triathlons and marathons (including qualifying and competing in the Boston Marathon). At this time, I was a PE and Health Teacher at Harrisburg High School. I was the Head Varsity Track Coach (2 years) and Head Varsity Cross Country Coach (4 years). I was also the Oregon/Washington/Northern California International Sports Exchange Cross Country Coach which competed in Australia. In my thirties I took a little time off from teaching and coaching while the boys were young and found it hard to be able to fit in the longer workouts that I was used to doing. In May of 2014 a friend talked me into trying a CrossFit class. I fell in love with it from the start. I was astounded at how great of a workout you could get in, in such a short amount of time. I would go to the 5 am class and be back home before my kids even knew I was gone. I absolutely loved the community, family and friends that I was a part of. My self-confidence and overall well-being were transforming just as my body was changing in the mirror. Now it’s a family affair. We do family WODS all the time and would love to have you come in and join us!!

After completing graduate school, in health care administration, I probably had a 10-year gap of letting my health slide while focusing on my career and not paying attention to my fitness which had been so important to me for so long. My career grew about as fast as my waistline and I found myself up 50 lbs and working as a hospital CEO. I knew something needed to change! I stepped off of the corporate ladder, moved to Oregon, and found CrossFit all at the same time. Best move of my life!! After being in CrossFit for two years I earned a spot competing on a team at the CrossFit Regionals at the age of 36 and feeling so much more confident in myself and happy with this new passion and community I’d found. Working in healthcare I’ve always been on the backside of what happens when people don’t pay attention to their health. It doesn’t feel like healthcare, it feels like sick care, and as I much as I enjoy working in the healthcare field, I know there is more that I can do to help and serve others to live a healthier life. I see firsthand everyday in my “day job” the costs financially, physically, and mentally when we don’t take care of ourselves and I want to bring an opportunity to break that cycle to the community where I live.

Following college I played in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins, and had the great experience of playing in NFL Europe for the Berlin Thunder in World Bowl IX. I found CrossFit following my professional football career and it gave me the opportunity to stay in shape, and still fuel my competitive spirit. After seeing the benefits of CrossFit in my health and wellness I opened Rockwell CrossFit in Woods Cross, UT because I wanted to share CrossFit’s benefits with others. Currently, you can find me helping coach my kids’ teams around Philomath in almost every sports season throughout the year. I am glad to open a CrossFit box in Philomath so I can spread the many benefits of CrossFit and functional fitness. I am also excited to build a community of wellness in Philomath by providing our community a way to live a more functionally healthy life.

I’ve played sports and been active all my life. I played volleyball and softball in college, and also competed in swimming, track and basketball most of my life. After my college career was complete, coaching and training was the next logical step for me and I’ve been lucky enough to have had many opportunities to work with athletes at many levels. I am currently a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, National Academy of Sports Medicine Master Trainer, Performance Enhancement Specialist and MMA Conditioning Specialist (among other things).
After competing in high level sports my whole life and a car accident many years ago, I have had to deal with and work through some serious injuries. Through CrossFit and regular exercise, I’ve learned that being fit and strong is the most important factor to keeping me out of pain. And that’s VERY IMPORTANT to me!! I will continue this active lifestyle as long as possible and hope to help as many people as possible to do the same!

I had just started school for emergency services and I wanted to be strong enough to move patients and fight fires. In the beginning I was more of a casual crossfitter, but after a hiatus during my time working at Disney World I fell in love with the sport all over again. I fell in love with the process, with the idea of mental fitness, with the rush that comes from a good workout, and with the home you find in a CrossFit box. To me CrossFit is more than a workout, it is a road to self discovery and it is a driving force for self improvement. To take my love of the sport to the next level I became a CrossFit level 1 trainer in September 2020, and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I cannot wait to share what I have learned, and help you on your fitness journey!

I have been practicing yoga for 6 years and this year( thanks to Bri’s encouragement) I decided to become a certified yoga teacher, and completed a 200 hour program locally. When I started practicing yoga I saw the benefits crossing over into my CrossFit performance. Increased mobility, flexibility, balance, and breath work that helps me recover quickly and be more controlled in my lifts. Because I feel yoga and CrossFit are such a great combination I also decided to get my CrossFit L1 certification.

I’m an intensity aficionado and I thrive on the satisfaction and self-learning that comes from pushing my limits, but I believe in keeping things in perspective. My personal goals are simply to continually improve my health and happiness (and be able to keep up with my dalmatian, Tophi!). As an instructor, I strive to help others to pursue their own individual goals. Outside of the gym, I work on cellular analysis instrumentation as an R&D Scientist and enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife and four-legged spotted boy.

I joined Chiseled Spirit at the beginning of 2021 and shortly after, I took the steps to become a CrossFit Level 1 trainer. It has been a goal of mine for quite a while and I’m so glad I finally did it! I am looking forward to working with you and helping you achieve your goals, whatever they may be!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CrossFit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition. CrossFit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance. The program works for everyone—people who are just starting out and people who have trained for years.
With constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements, CrossFit is a training philosophy that coaches people of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness in a hardcore yet accepting and encouraging environment.
The simple answer is no. You get fit by doing CrossFit.
Fundamental classes teach you the basic movements and if you cannot perform any of them the coach will modify the work before you.
The beauty of CrossFit is that every single person can do it. Everything in CrossFit can be scaled, meaning modified to the athletes level. For example, if you have never done any exercise in your life the coach at the box will give you more time to go through each movement until you get it. You will not have any weights until the coach can see that you are ready for it.
Some of the people in your class probably will be fit, but many beginners have no background in sports. Don‘t worry doing CrossFit will show you progress very soon. Just don´t try to compete against them yet.
